Risky business

It didn’t occur to me until after spending 30 initially uncomfortable minutes in the pedicure chair next to my significant other that we at CBC ask our clients–CMOs, CEOs, managers–to continually get outside their comfort zone with the wildly innovative bank marketing ideas we present, but we don’t, however, take the time to advocate they also take risks in their personal lives.
I truly believe that an open business mind comes from having an open personal mind. So I’m challenging everyone to do something different this weekend. Something outside your comfort zone. For me, as a hetero male, it meant getting the full-on foot scrub treatment from a predominantly female salon.
Sure it was uncomfortable and slightly embarrassing, but it definitely changed my perspective and helped me approach my creative and brand work in a different light–a welcome addition for the marketer in me who’s constantly looking for new ways to communicate and make impressions.
So this weekend, take a personal risk. It’ll make those business risks sound less risky.
