Kentucky Brand Chicken
News broke this week that KFC will soon be selling grilled chicken. This is big news not only for those who love the finger lickin’ good taste of the Colonel’s chicken, but an important lesson in the evolution of a brand. KFC is “now grilling” to meet the demands of its customers and answering the call for an alternative to its delicious, yet fat-induced fried chicken.
As KFC’s chief food innovation officer Doug Hasselo said, “This is transformational for our brand.”
Bank marketing and bank management executives should take notice and learn from the Colonel. You MUST make adjustments based on customers needs—even though you feel comfortable with the status quo of your bank’s brand and the products/services you’ve “always offered.”
The brand identity transformation wouldn’t be easy and will likely take time, but it must happen for the sake of your customers and your brand. You’ll be surprised that changing the original recipe of your brand will help your bank thrive.

You mean I’ll get to see the product that I’m buying and it won’t be all wrapped up neat and tidy in a crispy blanket of 11 herbs and spices? Sounds like I’ll have to use a fork and knife as well to eat it. Sheesh, for all that work I might as well cook my own chicken.
