Be true to your brand
I saw a purple and yellow couch in a store window the other day. Even though I graduated from high school more than 10 years ago, I can’t see those colors and not think of my alma mater.
Purple and yellow (well, actually it was gold) were the school colors of my high school’s sports teams and I will never be able to associate them with anything else, except maybe the LA Lakers who, not coincidentally, are also a team.
So I got to thinking about branding elements (such as a color palette), financial graphic design, and how I’ve seen banks often select colors (and fonts and styles) at random to fit whatever promotion they are working on. Then I tried to picture an LA Laker wearing a green jersey and it blew my mind!
Why can’t your financial institution have the same drive and focus when it comes to creating look and feel, sound and even smell that a sports team would have? When it comes to brand identity marketing, we could all benefit from a little team spirit and learn to be true to our school.
